Tips On How To Travel In Your Halloween Costume
Halloween costume originality
Keep in mind that when you hit the streets, you are sure to run in plenty of vampires, ghosts, and recent movie persona. So if you are hoping to stand out at the bar or be the life of the party, you may want to try and discover a Halloween costume that is more unique. If you do choose to go with a cliché Halloween spook, consider doing something about it that will make you stand out from everyone else.
One way to do this is to create your own Halloween costume. However, for most people, this is more laborious than it sounds, and the finished costume may leave much to be desired. An easier choice is to go to online Halloween costume stores. These will offer a much wider variety than your local costume retailer, allowing you to find something that is unique from everyone else.
Restrooms and crowded locations
If you are headed out to the bar or to a celebration, not all costumes are going to work. For instance, if you are going to go out for some drinks, then there is a good chance you will want to use the restroom at some time in the evening. A costume that is tough to get in and out of can make this a problem. If there is going to be a large number of people in a small room, then bulky Halloween costumes can make it difficult to move around. Watch out for the sizes of objects like wings and other accessories to make moving about easier.
Watch your layers
While attractive Halloween costumes can be proper for an indoor party, wearing one out on a chilly Halloween night to take the kids trick-or-treating can leave you shivering. On the other hand, the thick gorilla suit can cause you to faint from heat exhaustion in the center of a crowded party. So ponder where you will be on Halloween night and choose your costume accordingly. If there is going to be a assortment of venues, consider a costume that has removable layers so you can adjust it for the weather.
Carrying your essentials on Halloween
Ever notice that Wonder Woman never carries a handbag? If you are going out on Halloween night, you will need to consider how you are going to carry your essentials like your wallet and car keys. Many costumes do not have pockets, so you might need to get creative with how you do this. Look for accessories that can double as a bag or handbag. Hidden wallets like are designed for travelers will also work well with some costumes as a hideaway for your money or ID.
If you plan ahead, your Halloween costume will prove to be less of a chore and more suited for partying.
Your Halloween Website Layout Part 1
This is time when everybody who is active on social networks is busy putting Halloween layout on their profile. Each one of us wants the profile to look real scary and attention grabbing. Human nature demands praise and accolades and when our friends praise us about our profile, we feel good. .
Layout is the major step that determines the look of the profile. There are thousands of websites offering layouts. How to choose the best layout for Halloween? Here are some quick tips on that.
Design of the layout should reflect the spirit of the festival. Halloween is a festival of innocent joy and fun. Halloween has the spirit of enjoyment that is incomparable. The layout should reflect that joy.
In the quest of making a good profile, the users overload the profile with video, music, colors, surveys, polls, comments, graphics and everything they can get to make the profile unique. The result is that the profile practically becomes unreadable and cannot be understood by most new comers. Choose a layout that looks clean. Let it be understood by your friends.
I have tried to open many profiles and found that it took ages. The weight of the files is simply overwhelming. Do you want a layout that makes it impossible to open your profile? Before you select a layout make sure that it is lightweight. The lighter it is, the better it is. Try any popular website and you will find that the site opens very quickly and pages get downloaded very fast. With a single click people navigate away if the page takes time to download. Crafting Witchs Hands
This is a handprint craft with a difference! You need only a few inexpensive supplies which you will probably have lying around the house. It is an easy craft to do with a crowd of children and the results are great for decorating the house or classroom. Best of all, you will end up with a fun memento to keep and look back on as the children grow.
You will need:
Green card or paper Scraps of black, red or purple card, paper, felt, tissue paper etc Pencils and pens White glue
Instructions:
Draw around the children's hands onto the green card. Older children can pair up and draw round each other’s hands. Cut out carefully.
Use the scraps of paper or card to cut pointed oval shapes for long, spiky finger nails and stick them on - embellishing, if you like, with glitter or stickers.
Draw some spidery veins onto the hands, using your own hands as inspiration.
Why not add a wart or two? Make them by scrunching tissue paper into a tiny ball and sticking onto the hands with white glue.
Use the hands to decorate a notice-board, the fridge, or the Halloween table (place them on either side of a plate for a humorous effect). If you attach them to the edge of doors with sticky-tack it looks as if someone spooky could be hiding on the other side!
Alternatively, attach plain white paper to the back of the hands and use them as invitations!
Variations:
Children could create monster hands. Use cream or brown card and square off the fingers of the handprints before cutting out. Fingernails should be black or perhaps silver, and also square in shape. Use black pen to draw veins and lots of spiky black hair in the center of the hand and knuckles!
Ghostly hands can be made out of white card. Stretch your handprints out a little to give particularly long, thin fingers. Make fingernails out of grey or silver scraps and decorate with silver glitter. Use pencil or grey pen to draw on veins.
Halloween Scrapbooking Memories
Memories to remember
There are so many exciting events that happen in October that lead up to Halloween. Have your camera ready so that you can capture every moment.
For starters, there is the picking out of the costume. Chances are, your child will want to try on three or four or more before settling on the perfect one. There is also the trip to the pumpkin patch to pick out the perfect jack-o-lantern pumpkin. You can also capture memories of raking the yard, hanging decorations, or baking Halloween treats.
Getting supplies together
Of course to create a scrapbook, you will need a scrapbook to start out with. Most craft stores will offer a wide variety of sizes and styles to choose from. While you are there, you can also take a look at the different colored papers, stickers, and other assortments of embellishments that you can add to the pages. If you need stencils, scissors, or glue make sure to pick those up as well.
Memories to include
What you decide to include in you Halloween scrapbook is up to you. If you would like, have your child participate by picking out photos or other items to include. If you are stumped for ideas, here are a few that can help you get started:
Take a walk and pick up some colorful fall leaves that are falling from the trees in October. Halloween cards or invitations – you can use the entire card so that you can still read the messages, or simply cut off the picture part from the front to use as an embellishment.
Any Halloween artwork that your child has created is a welcomed addition to your Halloween scrapbook. If the project is too bulky or large to fit in the scrapbook, take some pictures of it to include instead. You can also include any crafts that were made at school or parties or that you and your child made on your own at home.
Have your child create top ten lists of the current favorites this year – favorite costumes, candy, TV shows, etc.
Goodies from any parties that you attended are also fun to incorporate. The gift bag, name tag, or invitation are always nice to include. You can also take pictures of your child's costume or the events going on. Pictures, pictures, and more pictures! A well-taken picture will capture more of the feel than any description you could ever write. You can also give your child a camera and allow him or her to take some shots as well.
Any other decorations, mementos, or other things that will help spark memories when you look at the scrapbook later on.
Scrapbooks are a great way to save memories for later on. So if you want to remember that perfect Halloween costume or every moment from your child's first Halloween party, consider creating your own this year.
Halloween Vampire Makeup
Just ask the numerous small ghouls, witches and monsters that came knocking on my door last year. I paid a high price for my fun though, in the form of large handfuls of candy. But it was worth it. Halloween is just one day. I think everyone should get into the swing of it and enjoy the whole ghoulish experience. Are you ready for Halloween? Do you have your costume?
So what will you be? There are always people drawn to the Jason or Freddy costumes. I don’t know what it is about those flicks. What reason could there be for wanting to walk about as a movie serial killer? I don’t know. But like them, it’s the same costume every year for me.
You might think this is a bit unimaginative but I have it down to a science now. I’m sure like the fans of Freddy or the vampire ensemble I have, you are drawn to some specific area, be it werewolf or witch. Whatever character you are thinking about, your best bet for a huge selection is the internet. That’s where I get my fangs and make up.
You don’t have to drag yourself to the store and rummage about looking for something. You don’t have to worry about your favorites costume being out of stock or the costs being too high. All you need to do is check out the variety of sites choose a costumes and you would be on your way.
The History of Halloween
The History of Halloween
Have you ever wondered why on earth we celebrate Halloween and where the idea came from? If you are like most of us, you simply enjoy the fun and games – and of course treats – and haven’t really given the origins of the holiday much thought. But the history of Halloween is a really cool story in its own right.
Way back in the day – about two thousand years ago – there lived a people known as Celts. They inhabited the area we call Ireland, and there were some in France and the UK, too. In fact, the language that is spoken in Ireland is not Irish, as you may think. It is Celtic.
Anyway, the Celtic people had a different New Year’s Day than we do here today. Their new year started on November 1st; this is probably because November marked the end of the plentiful, glorious, harvest season and the beginning of the cold, dark winter. Hence, it seems like a perfect time for marking a new year, right?
So, the Celtic people had a theory that their New Year’s Eve – October 31 – was the night when there was the perfect opportunity for the ghosts of dead people to return to earth, and so the worlds of the living and the dead combined for a night. On this night, the Celtic people turned to their Druid priests for insight into what was to come in the New Year. And some theories of the history of Halloween include the priests’ ability to know the future by learning it from the dead who returned to earth.
So, the early version of Halloween, called SamHain (“sow-in”), was born. The Celts usually built these huge bonfires and dressed up in the skins of animals. They gathered around the bonfires in these “costumes” and sacrificed some of their crops and animals to the Celtic gods in the hopes that the gods would be good to them in the coming year.
Later on, the Romans invaded Ireland and the other Celtic regions, and they added their own twist into what we now know as Halloween; subsquently the history of Halloween was changed a bit. They added a couple things into SamHain. First, they added a day called Faralia – which was a day the Romans had set aside as a day to remember and honor those who had died before us. Then, they also included a day to please Pomona – a goddess whose symbol is the apple. Remember those days of bobbing for apples as a kid? You can thank Pomona for that tradition.
Then, Christianity came to the area – around the 800s. The Pope at the time – Pope Bonaface – declared November 1st All Saint’s Day, which is still celebrated as a Holy Day by the Catholic Church. The Church often times tried to replace pagan holidays with related holidays in order to appease the pagan people who wanted festivals, but also to make Christian-based celebrations. The night before All Saint’s Day, SamHain to the Celts, began to be called All Hallow’s Eve or All Hallow’s Mass. Finally, it became known as Halloween.

Sell Your Halloween costume
If your Halloween costume was something special, unique, or expensive, and is still in suitable condition, you might consider selling it. This will allow you to recoup some of the money that you spent on it so that you can put this amount towards this year's Halloween outfit.
Consignment stores A consignment retailer is a bargain hunter's dream for Halloween costumes and other deals. You give the store the costume, and they do the work of finding someone to buy it. Once it sells, the store keeps a percentage as their fee and you get the rest. Online Auctions For people who prefer to sell their costumes themselves, online auctions can be a great option. You will have a much broader audience than your local retailer or garage sale. Always read the terms and conditions of the particular site before you submit an ad. Garage sales/newspaper ads Of course, if you want to sell your Halloween costume yourself, the traditional avenues of selling it at a garage sale or with an ad in the newspaper may also work. Keep in mind that you will often receive less money for the costume this way, though this way may be easier if you were already planning a sale.
Donate Your Halloween costume
If your Halloween costume is still in good shape, you could consider donating it. There are several places that would appreciate your donation. Here are some places that might be able to give your Halloween costume a new home.
Women's shelters Many of the women staying in shelters have kids with them. And when times are tough, extras like a Halloween costumes are not going to be in the budget. This is a special place to send kids Halloween costumes to so that another child can have a chance to trick-or-treat. They may also take adult costumes as well so that mom or older children can join in the holiday fun. Children Hospitals Staying in a hospital long term is not much enjoyable, so the staff at children's hospitals will often look for ways to cheer their patients up. Dressing up for Halloween, or even a day of silliness, can make their patient's times more enjoyable. Some hospitals will also encourage children to trick-or-treat around the rooms of the hospital on Halloween night. Churches (some denominations) Some churches will celebrate Halloween, or have a church friendly alternative where kids can wear their costumes. Families in need may approach their church first for help before looking elsewhere. You will want to call the church beforehand to make sure they would welcome the donation, and use this for your family friendly costumes. Charities Many charities like Goodwill and the Salvation Army will accept donated articles. In most cases, these organizations will sell your costume at their discount stores to help raise funds for the various programs that they run. Hospice retailers Hospice services often run small stores to raise money for their staff members. These people often do a lot with very little, and they will take almost any type of donation that is in good condition.
There is always someone out there that will be interested in your Halloween costume. Taking time to locate them can help you recover your money or make someone else's Halloween better.
Keeping On Your Diet During Halloween
The biggest problem with these Halloween sweets is that they have plenty of calories per serving and little nutritional value. Plus, the smaller “fun-size” treats often fool dieters into thinking that they can eat multiple pieces without harming their diets. But t only takes 9 of these mini-candy bars to add a quarter of a pound of fat to your body.
Beyond candy, Halloween is also filled with other indulgent treats. Whether it is pumpkin pie, gooey popcorn balls, or sweet candied apples, there is no shortage of calories during the month of October.
What can you do?
Obviously, there is no way that you can totally eliminate candy from Halloween with spoiling all of the fun. So here are some tips to help you stick to your diet, while still allowing yourself the occasional sweet indulgence.
• Walk when trick-or-treating. Not only is it a good idea to supervise your kids while they are out trick-or-treating, it will help you burn some extra calories while you do it, even if you are walking slowly.
• Store leftovers in the cupboard. If you leave the Halloween candy out in plain sight, you will be more likely to indulge in the “occasional” snack. Storing it in an unmarked container in the cupboard will help reduce the temptation to have a taste.
• Wait until Halloween to buy candy. Yes, it does mean a little bit of last minute shopping, but having candy in the house prior to Halloween is merely a temptation to eat it. If waiting until Halloween to shop is just not practical with your schedule, only buy candy that you personally don't care for.
• Provide candy alternatives. Whether it is treats for the trick-or-treaters or munchies for your Halloween party, thinking healthy when you shop can help keep diet damaging foods to the minimum. Consider handing out stickers or pencils to trick-or-treaters, and look for veggie trays with healthy dips and other low fat snacks for your party.
• Give Halloween candy a deadline. Choose a date when all Halloween candy needs to be out of the house or eaten by the kids. Any remaining candy on that day should be thrown out. Alternatively, divide up surplus candy into freezer bags and store in the freezer. This will help prevent the temptation to snack.
• Focus on other activities. If you can, consider skipping trick-or-treating altogether and focus on an activity that doesn't center around food. Hayrides, haunted houses, and bonfires can all be fun activities that the whole family can participate in.
Of course, if you can't keep your Halloween temptations to a minimum, your other alternative is to spend some extra time at the gym working the pounds off. The choice is up to you.

Tips For A Successful Grownup Halloween Party
Are you planning on hosting a Halloween party? If you are, then ask yourself if you know what kind of party it’s going to be. You might consider throwing a Halloween party for adults. It’s easy to plan, and a fun way to spend some quality time with your friends and family. In fact, it’s easier to plan a Halloween party aimed at adults than it is to set one up for kids, or for people of all ages. That said, there is a quite a bit of preparation and planning involved, and you’ll have to start early. The sooner you do, the sooner you can begin the festivities and enjoy yourself.
Invitations are an important thing, as with any other party. You should probably even invite people before you begin planning the rest of the party. Holiday seasons are always busy, and you’ll want to give people breathing space by making the invitations early, ideally a month beforehand. Make clear on your invitations that your party is for adults, as your guests may well end up bringing their kids otherwise.
Once the invitations, or at a minimum, your guest list, has been taken care of, you should begin arranging the rest. First of all, figure out what kinds of refreshments you’ll be offering. Naturally, since you’ll be catering to adults, you should have a well-stocked bar. It’s not obligatory to have alcohol at a Halloween party, of course, but it’s nice to have it on hand for those who want. Think also about what kind of other food and drink you’ll need. Will you serve dinner at your party? If you don’t plan to, then get a good assortment of snacks.
Games aren’t just for kids. It’s also lots of fun for adults to play party games. They’re a great way to keep your guests entertained. You can find a good variety of games geared towards adults online by doing a simple search. You can also go to your local retail store. The games don’t necessarily have to relate to Halloween. Just choose something fun.
Decide also where exactly your party will be held in your home. It’s pretty common for people to throw parties that will extend into several rooms, but it’s ultimately your call. It’s possible to have one in the dining room, living room, kitchen, rec room, den, and so on. It depends on how big your party will be and what you have planned. As well as cleaning and beautifying the rooms you’ll be using, you should figure out what kinds of decorations you’ll be using to contribute to your Halloween theme. There’s no point having a Halloween party without throwing in some scary-looking decorations, after all. They will really fill the air with a holiday spirit and give your party character.
Hosting a Halloween party for adults is a major undertaking, but it will be lots of fun to plan. If you start out early, get everything set up right, and make sure your family and friends are able to come, you can be sure your party will be a success before it even begins.
Buying Halloween Contacts Online
Ever wanted to spice up your look for Halloween, or to do something unique for parties? Have you ever considered contact lenses to alter the way other people perceive your eyes, or to add to a great costume? With cheap halloween contact lenses becoming more common than ever, this year is a great opportunity to do just that.
Contact lenses are simply discs, usually made out of plastic, that stay on your eye with the help of suction from the eyeball and tear fluid that attaches them to the surface. This is why blinking or eye drops often alleviate contact problems. They don't fall off and follow your eye movements, making them ideal for those with glasses.
Contact lenses are mostly corrective in nature; that is, usually worn by people with glasses. However, not everyone wears them to fix vision problems. There are lenses available to change the color of your eyes, to help you see better during athletic events, and for halloween costumes. The key word to look for when adding to your costume is cosmetic lenses or theatrical lenses. One popular brand is Wild Eyes by CIBA Vision, which also makes regular contact lenses.
When choosing lenses of this type, it is important that you are properly fitted for them by an optometrician. When you blink, the colored part of the contact lens may slide over your pupil, obscuring sight, a common occurrence that can easily be avoided. It is also important that you obtain a prescription for even decorative lenses, as it is required by the FDA. Also make sure you buy them in credible sources such as online sites that are secure or an optometrist's office.
One type of popular lens for Halloween is cat eyes, which make the pupil look larger than it really is by covering it in black and surrounding the white of the eye with yellow. Another cheap Halloween contact lens is Hypnotica. Hypnotica is another great choice for dressing up as a warlock or witch. It creates a swirl of black and white in your eye that will mesmerize bystanders. If you are going for the cartoon effect, go for knockout lenses, which "replace" your pupil with a black "X", as often seen in cartoon shows.
Other standout choices include red eyes, orange eyes, zebra patterns, spider webs, smileys, and stars. All of these are great choices to match with a variety of costumes. Just make sure the party you are attending isn't held in pitch-black conditions!
If you simply want to change the color of your eye to match your costume, tamer options are available. These lenses are also colored, but only so much as to change your eye color to other normal colors. There are several options with these: visibility tints, enhancement tints, and color tints.
All provide a different level of change, and will show differently. For example, if you naturally have brown eyes but would like to really stand out, changing your eyes to violet or green will make everyone notice.
As with all contact lens choices, even if you do not have vision problems, it is important to see an optometrist and explore your options, as well as seek advice about various colors of lenses that will work best for you. If you choose to wear lenses with your costume this Halloween, don't share them with anyone and keep them clean, so you don't wind up with a monster of an eye infection!
A Siberian Halloween
Live in another country and you’ll start to experience serious cultural differences. This is particularly true as I discovered with Halloween in Siberia.
Russian Holidays
I loved living in Russia and the primary reason was people. Russians love to celebrate and they are big into holidays. In Chita, Siberia, practically everyday was a holiday. During communism, Russia celebrated the worker with holidays such as bus driver day, teacher day and so on. When the fun loving Russians dropped communism from the menu, they decided to keep the holidays and add new ones for the new political bent. While Oligarchs’ Day isn’t yet a holiday, practically everything else is. With the approach of Halloween, I was ready to go nuts and show them a little of the American spirit.
At the time, I was teaching roughly 12 classes a week on law and business at Chita State Technical University. This gave me the opportunity to put together a wing dinger of a Halloween party since the students would generally follow directions without question. Accordingly, I announced to each class that we would be building a haunted house at my place and with roughly 150 students, it was going to be the haunted house of all houses. No student had any questions, but I should have noticed the blank stares.
The morning after making my announcements, the Dean of the University approached me. She had some rather pointed questions about Halloween. Nobody had ever heard of Halloween and no, children didn’t trick or treat. After all, what kind of person would trick a child? Americans do this? Every year? And they try to scare the children? Why?
The more we went back and forth, the more I started to wonder about Halloween. When I made the fatal mistake of bringing up the headless horseman, the gig was up. The Dean gave me that furrowed brow perfected by all administrators. There would be no haunted house on October 31st.
After all, October 31st was the guy who makes duplicate keys day!
